Trip recaplet

The trip in a nutshell:

We had a great time, despite the snow and sub-zero temperatures! We stayed in the Old Market area, which was bustling thanks to a Bon Jovi concert. While in Omaha, we did some volunteering, toured a few Berkshire Hathaway subsidiaries, and had lunch and a Q&A session with Mr. Buffett. Afterward, Mr. Buffett was kind enough to take pictures with all the students (almost 200 of us). Mr. Buffett was very entertaining, and gave us some great advice. We are very grateful to have had this experience. Now back to the daily grind!

Photo blog: group dinner, gift for Mr. Buffett

Photo blog: arrival, dinner at Old Chicago, helping out at Boys & Girls Club

One more day!

Our small group of Daytime and Working Professional students touched down in Omaha last night, following a short delay in Phoenix. After a quick, informative shuttle drive, we settled into the hotel and unpacked our suits. Around 9 pm, we headed out in search of food. We walked a few blocks and ended up in the Old Market district. After checking out a couple restaurants and bars, we settled on Old Chicago Pasta & Pizza. A group of WPs were already dining, and several Daytime students soon joined us. The pizza was fantastic!

Today we're volunteering at the United Way, Girls, Inc., and the Boys and Girls Club. There's snow on the group and the wind is howling, hopefully we'll be inside! Tonight we're having a group dinner at the hotel and then meeting some of the students from NYU Stern. It should be exciting! I've taken plenty of photos, which I'll blog when I get home.

Cheers from Omaha!

Omaha, here we come!

UC Davis GSM students will start heading to Omaha tomorrow in preparation for Monday's meeting with Warren Buffett. Today was the day for last-minute errands.

Things I did today:

- Figured out how to pack a suit in a carry-on (see photo).
- Purchased a book of Mr. Buffett's essays for the book signing.
- Checked the weather report for Omaha: high of fourteen degrees on Monday. Fourteen!
- Packed thermals, gloves, and scarves (see photo again).
- Watched a Fox Business News special where the interviewer actually said, "you're hotter than Lindsey Lohan when it comes to rumors. We should have you on the cover of US Magazine." I'd like to see that!

See you in Omaha!
